When it Comes to Fashion, Taylor Swift Owns the Sidewalk Outside Her Apartment

Last week, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the infamous incident where the internet speculated that Taylor Swift was hiding in a suitcase. It was a simpler time, occurring after Kim Kardashian West’s Snapchat altercation with Swift but before Swift’s “big reputation” made us all a little wary. At the time, the notion that Swift would opt to leave her Tribeca apartment concealed in a box like the protagonist from Ocean’s Eleven seemed believable. In fact, we wanted and needed her to be in that box. And who knows, maybe we still do.

Swift has once again been spotted in Tribeca, indulging in the delicious banana-quinoa muffins at the Smile. However, despite her apparent love for the treats, she did make the effort to leave her apartment by foot this week. It’s interesting to analyze the fashion choices she’s been flaunting for the paparazzi lately. Last Sunday, Swift stepped out donning knee-high suede Jimmy Choo boots, which seemed rather out of place for the summer heat in New York. She paired the boots with a floral Faith Connexion Wrap Shirtdress, accessorized with Elie Saab sunglasses and a Stella McCartney bag. It was quite clear that Swift was ready to put on a show with her ensemble.

Swift made a fashion statement on Tuesday by revisiting an old favorite: the Baby Romper. However, she put a unique spin on it this time around by having her stylist, Joseph Cassell, commission a custom version from designer Fausto Puglisi. To add a rock and roll edge, Swift paired the romper with a snakeskin Kate Spade backpack (which happens to be her current favorite emoji and motif) and platform Saint Laurent boots. She completed the look with black nail polish.

Swift donned a matching top and shorts that resembled a romper, along with a denim bustier top from Madewell on Wednesday. Her outfit was completed with white sneakers and a Christian Louboutin backpack with spikes, which gave her a look as if she is heading to a summer camp instead of a dive bar in Lower East Side. Later that night, Swift visited the studio while wearing an oversized plaid shirt that appeared faux-bleached. Although her choice of clothing looked comfortable, it’s surprising that she opted for that particular piece to pack in her suitcase, considering her wealth. Nonetheless, Swift seemed confident and unapologetic about her fashion choices.
